He set a world record in 2008 when he performed 3000 joint replacement surgeries. An MS In Orthopaedics, he has undergone advanced training in Joint Replacement Surgery at Ormskirk & Wrightington Hospital, UK under t r the aegis of Mr A.G. Hayes and Mr T.U. Menon. Later, he underwent extensive training in Switzerland (F.A.O.A.A.), Germany (F.A.S.I.F) and London (AO Basic) as well. He also did his fellowship with Dr. Brice Brockin at Shelby Medical Centre, Birmingham, Alabama, USA. Alabama, USA. His stint with Shelby Medical Centre, USA was the inspiration behind the name of the first hospital he founded in Ahmedabad-Shalby Orthopaedic Hospital and Research Centre in 1994. He was instrumental in paving the way for technological innovations in the field of Orthopaedics by introducing ‘The OS Needle and Zero Technique’ which revolutionised the outcomes of Joint Replacement Surgeries in India.
