INTRODUCTION

Dr. Prakash P. Kotwal has worked at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, for over 39 years, holding various positions and finally the post of Senior Professor and Head of the Department of Orthopaedics.

His area of special interest is the hand and upper extremities. He has obtained advanced training from the USA and Germany. He has expertise in managing complex fractures and dislocations of the upper extremities (from the shoulder to the fingertips of the hand), including neglected injuries. He has frequently carried surgical total joint replacements on the wrist, elbow, shoulder, and small hand joints. He has acquired proficiency in reconstructive surgery of the hand, including congenital deformities and anomalies, rheumatoid hand and tendon and nerve injuries, etc.

He is currently the President of the Indian Society for Surgery of the Hand.
