INTRODUCTION:

Dr Giriraj Bora is one of the youngest consultants in our Liver Transplant / HPB program. He attended J L N Medical College in Ajmer before graduating. Prior to entering the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Lucknow as a Senior Resident in G I Surgery, he completed his training in General Surgery at the same institution. After that, he enrolled in the G I Surgery MCh superspecialty program at the G B Pant Hospital in Delhi, where he completed a three-year training program. When he joined CLBS in 2011 as a Fellow in Liver Transplant / HPB Surgery, he got extensive training in all aspects of liver transplantation and HPB surgery.

He accepted an invitation to become a consultant at CLBS in January 2013. Bora is a dedicated member of our center’s core surgical team and is essential to the evaluation of potential liver transplant donors.

He has a special interest in liver transplantation & liver resections for Hepatocellular cancers, combined liver “ kidney transplantation as well as in Pancreatic Surgery (Whipple pancreatic oduodenal resections and surgery for chronic pancreatitis). The focus of his research activity has been the hemodynamic changes during liver transplant and changes during IVC cross clamping in LDLT.

Dr. Bora has presented at various national and international conferences, including the esteemed ILTS International Liver Transplant Society) conferences in Sydney in 2012 and San Francisco in 2012. He has authored several publications in the field of liver transplantation and G I surgery.
