INTRODUCTION:

At the Artemis Health Institute in Gurugram, Dr. Sandeep Harkar is employed as a Senior Consultant in the Urology department. He spent more than six years working as a consultant in urology at Paras Hospitals in Gurgaon. With a keen and curious mind, He began his medical studies at Govt. Medical College in Jammu, where he earned his MBBS in 2001.He carried on with his studies, earning an MS in surgery from the same college. After relocating, he served as a senior resident at the renowned MAMC College and its affiliated Lok Nayak Hospital in New Delhi, where he was supervised by prominent figures in general surgery.

His enthusiasm for urology persisted, and in 2009 he enrolled in the DNB residency program at Army Hospital (Research & Referral Institute), New Delhi. With cutting edge technology and facilities, Army Hospital (R&R) is the top military hospital. After completing his course successfully, the National Board of Examinations granted him the Diplomate of National Board (DNB).

He has wide exposure of all endoscopic, laparoscopic & open urological techniques. Along with his extensive understanding of kidney transplants, he was a key member of the renal transplant team at Army Hospital in Delhi and then at Paras Hospitals in Gurgaon. He has presented his work at numerous conferences across the nation and has had multiple publications in national and international magazines. In 2011, he participated in the EUREP program in Europe and received an international fellowship in urology. He is particularly interested in reconstructive urology, andrology, and endo-urology.

  • Participated in the 2011 European Urology Residents Educational Program (EUREP), which took place in Prague. (International Travel Fellowship, USI-Olympus).
  • Completed the surgical skills and techniques hands-on training program at MAMC, New Delhi, successfully, August 29–31, 2007.
  • Took part in the CUE program, which took place from April 3–4, 2009, at AIIMS in New Delhi. It included an international symposium, a workshop, and practical training on disorders of the prostate gland.

Procedures

  • Worked extensively with the team of senior urologists at Army hospital (R&R) and performed/assisted in almost all major open, laparoscopic & endoscopic urological surgeries.
  • Worked with latest state of art equipment in urology including ESWL (modulith SLK & Direx lithotripsy), Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery (RIRS), Urodynamics, TRUS guided prostate biopsy, laparoscopy & lasers (Holmium: YAG & KTP)
  • Worked as integral part of well-established renal transplant programme at Army Hospital (R&R) and Paras Hospital including donor Nephrectomy & Renal transplant.
  • Attended all urological surgical operations, including RIRS, HOLEP, and ESWL in addition to other standard urological surgeries, while working as a consultant urologist and transplant surgeon at Paras Hospitals in Gurgaon.
