INTRODUCTION:
In 2000, Dr. Sumit Singh, who achieved great success at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and was awarded the BL SONI Gold Medal at AIIMS, became a faculty member of the institute. In the year 2002, he opened the first headache clinic in India, located in the government sector at AIIMS. He is a well-known authority on headache problems and played a key role in the co-writing of the Indian subcontinent’s headache care guidelines. In 2002, he began using botulinum toxin to treat headaches for the first time in India and expanded its application to include patients with trigeminal neuralgia. He has expertise in patient planning and programming for The Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery and is a recognized expert in Parkinson’s illness. His main area of interest has been movement disorders. He is one of the only physicians in the US that can administer Botox to treat patients for blepharospasm, writer’s cramp, spasmodic torticollis and other dystonia’s, hemifacial spasm, and other conditions in addition to managing spasticity. He has conducted some study on multiple sclerosis and myasthenia gravis, and he has adjusted the plasma exchange regimens for these patients. He managed the headache and movement disorders programs at Medanta Medical Centre while serving as the additional director of neurology from 2009 to 2016.Among his accomplishments are 14 book chapters and 104 peer-reviewed academic publications.
