A well-known cardio-vascular surgeon in the country is Dr. Sushant Srivastava. After successfully completing bypass surgery on a 96-year-old patient—possibly the oldest patient ever documented to have undergone this procedure—he rose to national notoriety. He has now handled nearly 10,000 cases in total. At the esteemed AIIMS, New Delhi, he completed his studies in Cardio-Vascular Surgery in 1994, earning an M.Ch. in CTVS. He oversaw donor management and was closely involved in AIIMS’s Heart Transplant and Ventricular Assist Device Program. He helped the country’s first and ten subsequent heart transplant recipients at AIIMS.
