INTRODUCTION:

With more than 39 years of expertise, Dr. Rajesh Ahlawat is a well-known figure in the fields of minimally invasive urology and renal transplants. At the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow, Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in New Delhi, Fortis Hospitals in New Delhi, and Medanta The Medicity in Gurugram, he is credited with founding high-volume urology and renal transplant programs. He is a skilled endourologist, robotic, and laparoscopic surgeon who invented the first Robotic Kidney Transplant (RKT) with regional hypothermia in history. He is an academician and teacher at heart, started the M.Ch. and D.N.B. urology training programs at all of the previous universities where he was affiliated. In 1992, the Indian American Urological Association awarded him the Chakraborty Fellowship, and in 1995, the PN Berry Fellowship. During his tenure at the Institute of Urology and Nephrology in 1995, he was bestowed with the esteemed status of Honorary Lecturer by the University College London Hospitals (UCLH), United Kingdom. He is recognized for creating four prosperous urology and suprarenal transplant programs in India and for being the driving force behind the first robotic renal transplant in history.
