INTRODUCTION:

In 2010, Dr. N.P. Gupta joined as Chairman of the Urology Academics and Research Division. He completed his urology specialty before joining the faculty of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in 1979. He eventually became the department head and professor (1998–2010).Over the course of his illustrious 45-year career in urology, Dr. Gupta made significant contributions to the advancement of urology sciences on a national and worldwide scale. Over 30,000 surgeries for different urological conditions have been carried out by him. He is a pioneer and renowned surgeon who started robotic surgery in Urology in 2006 at AIIMS and today has performed the largest number of robotic surgeries in India in his specialty. He served as National Delegate and Board Member of Socitete Internationale D Urologie (2004-06), as well as President of the Urological Society of India (2007) and Asia (2008-10).He has won numerous national and international honors, including the Padamshree from the Indian government in 2007 and the Dr. B. C. Roy National Award from the Indian Medical Council in 2005.
