INTRODUCTION:

In addition to serving as the president of the Indian Council for Carotid Therapeutics India, Dr. Atul Mathur is the Chief of the Cath Lab and Executive Director of Interventional Cardiology at the Fortis Escort Heart Institute in New Delhi. A pioneer in intricate coronary procedures, he also specializes in structural heart (TAVR, Mitra Clip, LAAO, BMV, adult VSD closure) and endovascular (Carotid stenting, Aortic Graft Stenting, Peripheral Arterial and Venous Angioplasty) therapies. The first physician from India to receive a US patent for a device used to do carotid artery stenting. A center of excellence was established. In addition to carrying out thousands of these surgeries, he established a center for excellence from which annual training sessions for Indian doctors in carotid interventions are conducted. His contributions also include several hundred research publications that have received recognition from both domestic and foreign specialists. Many of the operations he carried out for the first time in the nation are now used elsewhere. His education and professional background at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama, and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi, Delhi, have greatly influenced his current profile.
