INTRODUCTION:

At the Fortis Escorts Heart Institute in New Delhi, Dr. Nishith Chandra serves as the Principal Director of Interventional Cardiology. For the past 30 years, he has been employed at Fortis. For over 30 years, Dr. Chandra has been actively working in the field of interventional cardiology. As a skilled interventional cardiologist, he has extensive expertise treating patients undergoing difficult coronary procedures, such as peripheral vascular interventions, carotid interventions, balloon valvotomies, intravascular lithotripsy, rotablation, and impella-assisted complex treatments. Using cutting-edge intracardiac imaging methods like intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and optical coherence tomography (OCT), he has a special method for doing image-guided precision angioplasty that makes the treatment incredibly safe. Intra-coronary imaging significantly lowers the incidence of stent thrombosis and recurring blockages. Imaging also helps determine if a stent is necessary. In addition, Dr. Chandra has over twenty years of experience as the head of Escorts Heart Institute’s Emergency and Heart Command Center. Additionally, he played a key role in the establishment of Escorts Heart Institute’s highly regarded Air Ambulance Unit, which has allowed for the transportation of over 300 critically ill patients from all over India and its neighboring countries. Chandra is also actively involved in digitizing the Cath lab procedures and has a strong interest in medical informatics and electronic medical records. In addition to writing chapters for numerous books, Dr. Chandra is the author of numerous publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals.
