INTRODUCTION:

Former AIIMS professor and department head Dr. Shiv Choudhary has joined the Fortis Escorts Heart Institute as executive director. Dr. Shiv Choudhary has been practicing for more than 32 years, and his areas of expertise include LVAD treatments, pulmonary thrombolysis, heart transplants, and aortic dissection. From difficult aneurysm repairs to neonatal arterial switch procedures, he performs around 500 major cardiac operations annually. He is particularly interested in aortic surgeries and valve repairs. Additionally, he has created novel methods for antegrade cerebral perfusion, valve patches for ASD/VSD closure, congenital tricuspid valve repair, left atrial reduction, pulmonary vein isolation, and percutaneously adjustable pulmonary artery bands. He has played a key role in the development of state-of-the-art facilities for difficult cardiac issues, the training of young surgeons, the mentoring of other cardiac surgeons, the creation of national guidelines, and the creation of more recent and affordable solutions tailored to India. He has served on editorial boards, expert panels, and a number of professional associations.
