INTRODUCTION:

With more than 25 years of expertise, Dr. Amit Javed is a skilled bariatric/weight loss, gastrointestinal, and gastrointestinal cancer surgeon. He received his training at prestigious medical schools both in India and elsewhere. He completed his medical school education at Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi for his M.Ch. in Gastrointestinal Surgery, and the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh for his M.S. in General Surgery and Senior Residency. He received the FACS degree from the American College of Surgeons in San Francisco, California, USA, and is certified by the ECFMG. He educated numerous G.I. surgeons throughout the nation while serving as a faculty member in the Department of G.I. Surgery at the GB Pant Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research in New Delhi. He has held positions as an Assistant Professor in the thoracic division of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), New York, USA, and in the Department of Abdominal Transplant Surgery at the esteemed University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), USA, where he worked on liver, pancreas, and kidney transplants. At Fortis Hospital Shalimar Bagh, Fortis Hospital Vasant Kunj, and CK Birla Hospital in New Delhi, he has served as the head of the departments of GI Surgery, GI Oncosurgery, and Bariatric Surgery. As a passionate researcher, he has authored over 50 publications for national and international textbooks and journals. He has also written descriptions of a number of cutting-edge surgical methods. He has been invited to teach at numerous national and international conferences. He performs more than 1,000 procedures annually and has extensive experience in bariatric and weight reduction surgery, cancer treatment, and difficult gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary illnesses. He has mentored numerous aspiring surgeons and is particularly competent in laparoscopic and minimally invasive procedures. Despite his many achievements, he is modest, unpretentious, and goes above and beyond to care for each and every one of his patients.
